Where to get a Bike Fit
« on: December 24, 2009, 07:06:53 am »
Hi,

I'm getting a new bike delivered from Melbourne within the next week or 2. Can anyone suggest a good place/person to go to for a bike fit here in Newcastle.

thanks,

Dirk

Dirk,

Some local shops offer set up for the bikes they sell but not sure how many offer set up for bikes they have not sold.
Well, no merger so far....

I must agree with the words of Metro Commuter. Just about all shops offer setup on bikes they sell but i don't have a clue if they do it for bikes they didn't sell. I guess the only thing to do is ring them/go to the shop and ask.

I believe they probably would but it might cost you a few quid. It would also be good for business and they would be making some cash.

Yes, Mick does a good set up.  Also, Commando/Boxhead @ Active, and Marek @ TWI.  All three have done a good job for me in the past.

However, the bets set ups I have had have been Brett and Rob @ Hadleys - just suited me.  But I think they only set up bikes they sell.

Two Wheel Industries do a bike fit. If you didn't buy the bike there it will cost you $75.00 plus any parts that you require to make it fit to you.

justD,

Don't go out straight away and prove to the rest of Newcastle that you are a bunter. Put your head over at racing and have a look at a few punters and their respective bike set up. You will see that some are set up like Superman, some like spina bifida sufferers and then there are some who look balanced. There are many who claim to have this knowledge you seek. Many of them have made physio's richer than they need to be because they probably know less than you (although I doubt this). If you bought your bike on the net, how do you know the frame size is correct and that your headstem length is accurate for your torso/arm length and/or flexibility? Just what the town needs..............another bunter

Robbo,

I could be the best friend this punter ever had. IMHO friends aren't truly honest enough with each other. I won't fail this punter in that regard

Snel,

Other than the secret about identity, it could be a template for Commuter's post.  Hang on....

Peace be with you

Snel, or rather, Anthony Hopkins,

Last time I saw you you would have fit in your big bro's nicks. Come back and let me give you (yet another) lesson in A grade son. Shalom
