Fast and Furious aka. Giantrock - bike accident - brain injury
« on: November 22, 2009, 05:30:48 pm »
Sadly this kind of news has been common in our area lately.  Don't know the details real well, I have this 3rd hand.

Apparently F&F was on a ride last weekend somewhere, hit a rock, fell off, and hit her head on the gutter.

She was in hospital for a while and is now in a rehab unit relearning coordination, speech, walking etc.

Anyone know more?  She was doing regular Saturday rides with 2 wheel industries so perhaps it was then?

Don't know.  Only found out because the missus took our 4 y.o. to a birthday party that F&F's boy was also at (they go to the same preschool).  F&F's husband told her, but not in enough detail.

Nadines' fall occured on the two wheel industry ride on Saturday 14th. Mick Rand was there and helped her.

Ah - just put two and two together.  I was riding with mates on the following Sunday and they reported there had been an accident on the TWI ride the previous day.  I did not know, and nor did they, the extent of injuries or who it was that had been injured.
Well, no merger so far....

Hi all,
Thought that I would let you know that I am home now and am on the mend. Will have rehab twice a week but that is for balance etc. Everyone has been great and I am keen to ride again. Dr's told me I am not aloud on the bike until the beginning of next year at the earliest. I have to say a huge thankyou to the guys at TWI they are just like family to me and my family. My husband and son have been more than supportive throughout this whole ordeal. Lucky for me I don't remember the accident happening just being told at the hospital about the incident and asking them if the bike is ok. That was my main concearn at the time now it is to recover and get back out their.... Hope to hear from you's again and I'll keep you's all up to date.....

Great to see that you are doing well Fast & Furious.
All the best with your recovery.

Take your time, don't rush the rehab & healing process.

The bike and road will wait for you.

Look after yourself,

Just a quick update I have lost hearing in my right ear and I will be lucky if it returns. Miracles do happen though right???? I'll have another hearing test at the end of January. Eyesight is getting heaps better as I had damaged a nerve but it will return in time. Call me silly but I am still wanting to return to the road in due time......

No - we call you "Gutsy", but NOT for the reasons some call Commuter "gutsy" and, I am told, "arsey".  ;D

Get well.
