How to improve attendances at KOCC summer racing

Right - I am one of many people who avoids Saturday afternoon racing with KOCC over summer.  My reason is the heat knocks me around terribly, and no point in racing in the heat.  When I was on the KOCC Committee there was consideration to shifting summer racing to a 4pm start but that never got of the ground.  So, over summer, I race with HDCC on Friday nights (because it is cooler and the different finish is a point of difference) and either HVVCC of HDCC on Sunday morning (both early starts, hence cooler).

Me thinks that some change might improve race participation, so I have posted this survey to see if people have a view.  The KOCC AGM is coming up, and I am interested to know if there is support for some change to summer racing

I think the crits at steel river are really good fun and always good racing. The 4pm start would be better for the heat, although this may run into some peoples social arrangements by the time racing is finished...

If racing were held Saturday mornings would this clash too badly with members' kids' cricket/hockey games etc?

Has anyone looked into the times that other clubs around the country run their races?

I agree with Snedden, a later race, whilst being much more comfortable due to cooler weather, would inhibit my drinking time on Saturday nights. However, with no small amount of counselling, I think I could overcome this for the sake of dodging heatstroke.

Hill Billy,

I last looked at the results on Friday, but the obvious answer is too small a sample size and arguably an unrepresentative sample.  If I leave STAT170 behind for a minute, I think the best can be said is there is a suggestion that having some crits @ Steel River later in the afternoon might boost attendances, and one person thinks Commuter should get new knicks.

Hmm.  Somehow this forum is a bit lethargic.  Lots of looking but not much posting.

4 races locally each week but little discussion...
