Wooton - where real cyclists race
« on: May 08, 2011, 08:56:23 pm »
No gang flat stuff there.  No hanging in till the end even if you're a bunter.  No legs, you get dropped.

But good fun too.  Trying to hang on up hill, trying to get back on downhill, trying to stay in the 2nd bunch.

Fun, fun and more fun.

Also you get an insight into what ticks off a Walrus.  At this time it's been narrowed down to hills or rear cassettes.  A member of the species rode up beside me and said "this sucks", which made me think he was not finding the hills much fun.  But then, he proceeded to deal out a fearful thrashing to each sprocket on the cassette that you had to wonder if it was gearing he hated...  Actually lots of gear crashing under load, one bloke went from the front to pulled out because of a dropped and stuck chain.

And another thing about Walruses, they can motor on the flat, ably assisted by Brett Fawkes.  Thanks for the tow!

Wooton is where bad cyclsts go after they die.
It wasn't my gearing that let me down on Saturday.
I thought Calga had a tough hill.
That hill that sorted me out was like the hill that goes from Edgeworth Tavern past Cameron Park up to the Newcastle Link Road x 2.
The finish line was up a hill too.
Wooton is like having sex with a guy. You have to try it but it hurts a lot and at the end you feel disappointed.

Errm, DW, I'd have not come up with an analogy like that, for obvious reasons...

When are you going to try crits?  Or have you?

I have not done a crit.
The idea of having to race in Div 1 & getting dropped does not appeal to me.

DW,

getting dropped from each grade possible has long been a Metro speciality. Dont let fear hold you back son!

HJ,

"Oh, the power and the passion" - perhaps CD could promote Wooton as a Mardi Gras event?

DW,

Seriously, I race Div 1 knowing I might be dropped but trying my best not to - finished one so far.  Div 2 is easy, which is why Commuter does it.  RObbo is holding out for Div 3.
Well, no merger so far....

You do not ASK to go up - you decide where you want to race.

I should add I have finished Div 1.

What a shame you losers didnt race at Pokolbin on Sunday. I could have lightened your wallet considerably.

Joint race at Blackhill this weekend, I am rostered on for Commissaire duties there too. Please enter you two, PLEASE!
