Wednesday is a very difficult night - each alternate is a council meeting, and of the remaining two, one is a Wicko Park hotel night.
Well, no merger so far....

Great to have enough D graders to have our own races without being outclassed by C graders.

Good too to have a few fellow "over 50's" to race with.

good weather conditions and good raffle prize!

How good was Last Wednesday nights track racing!
Lower than usual number I am told but there was some brand new faces.
3 CLub A graders made their track debut and Rocket Rosie also made his track debut.

The biggest thing that impressed me though was the vast improvement of the younger guys.

If this continues I can only see great things to come from this as the skill level increases so will the quality of the racing both on the track and on the road.

Keep up the good work Velo trust and HD.

Yep - it was good.  Must remember not to eat immediately before leaving for racing, however.  Hate having to taste my food twice...quiche and cannaloni is best consumed after racing, not prior to and during racing :o

I too was impressed with some of the new trackies. I raced B, C and D grade, and I have to say that C grade was tougher than B grade, with Shannon Lister and Daniel C pushing the pace up. However the most fun was D grade, which I raced just to fill in the numbers and had no intention of competing for a place - it was fun.

I can't make it this Wednesday - Wickham Park Hotel open mic night - but hope to attend training tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
Well, no merger so far....

Indeed, it was shaping up to be a really big night.

Lots of riders. Estimates were round 40.
Lots of juniors.

but

where were the other women?

As far as I could tell, there was only one female over 15.
And she would have been the second oldest rider on the night.

The new "D graders" had nothing to fear.  After 5 years of track training/racing and a bike upgrade,
the pace in the final laps was way beyond my level.

Fast Gai,

I have taken up your plight with some of the other female riders and have pleasure in reporting the following reasons for their non-attendance:

1. one was flogging her Epilady to no end
2. one was waxing
3. one was attending yoga
4. one was waiting for The Ferret to get off his rollers
5. one was drinking with Metro at the Wickham Park Hotel.

Ferret,

Yes, she was wearing her 1980s purple skinsuit and was grumbling about how the service was much better at the Minmi pub...some have quite unusually thought she was my father, so she ain't a looker.

Metro the Rock God (who now knows four songs as well as "Wild Thing").

...she was wearing her 1980s purple skinsuit...

Was this so she could match my Wednesday night track outfit?

(my purple/white skinsuit crafted by Fran Chapman)-

Maybe Fran could use this for publicity-

Her skinsuits are proudly worn by reps like Matt Ryan
and world sprint champions!!
