Shame I missed it. Had to make a showing at a work meeting, plus I am still coughing up bits of lung after Tuesday night's session.

What events were run?

Looking forward to next week, post Highland Fling.

Dr-rob,

I tried to call you yesterday at work.  If you left a bag at the track on Tuesday evening, it is at the track.

MC - he who did not cough up lung because he was too slow.
Well, no merger so far....

I don't think I left anything at the track - just some pride and vomit. Thanks anyway MC.

I like the look of those events. Should be fun next week.

Dr Rob, Boostie, Metro et all,

next weeks program is as follows:

Warm up scratch races
Handicap heats
Sprint Derby heats
Sprint finals
Consolation scratch
Handicap Final

it will be the first week of the monthly point score. Also the canteen offerings will be more diverse and hopefully a few misisng riders will make their return. Metro you will welcomed for your first start, and you wont be out of your depth in the grade I have in mind for you.

Anyone who is undure of racing or not, please turn up and have a look at what goes on, and you can ask any questions to help make up your mind.

See you there next week.

Key,

Yes, greatly embarassed by that.  When starting out I put a fair bit of weight on the front, and the front tyre slipped, so I thought I had a soft tyre.  When out in front for I guess the second lap I thought I felt it slip again, and thought "get down on the blue board", then realised I was travelling too fast.  Won't happen again - Mr C Chapman has schooled me on what to do in future, if I actually have a puncture.

Shame - I was feeling strong, and my big backside is a wide load to overtake on such a tight track...

i've done it before as well, slowed down during a sprint heat last year during the championships cause i thought i had a rear flat, its strange that once you think you feel the wheel sliding, every little movement after that you think that its getting worse, then you pull over and the tire is rock hard..

i doubt i would of caught you either, was on last wheel when you jumped and you did manage to get quite a big gap...

theres always next time, eh ? ;)

Metro,

you wouldnt have learnt that C Chapman lesson if you hadnt entered. Now you have had your first start it would be great to have you there as much as possible. Your turn now Dot Boy!

Program for this week.

1.Scratch races D - 10 laps, C- 15, B - 20, A - 25.
2.Handicap D & C 4 laps, A & C 4 laps. 6 each to final (if a big roll up, there will be separate events for C & D and A & B)
3.Italian Pursuit
4.Consolation scratch for non H'cap finalists
5.Handicap final

The first 2 weeks have been great with good numbers on both nights despite some riders being away. The car was pretty full and the spectators in the grand stand all had a good time as well. This week will be another good one with a couple more improvements planned.

I was given another lesson by a Chapman, this time M Chapman.  Relegated to 2nd (Frenchie moved to 1st) in my final race because I went outside the sprinters line or something.  Learn something new everyday...
Well, no merger so far....

Shame I missed it, but being trackside for the World Cup here in Melbourne makes up for it.
