KOCC A/B Grade Teams Challenge 16/10
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:08:30 am »
Hello to all you A and B graders out there, and read this if you are at the pointy end of C grade.

On 16 October KOCC is hosting what I think is the 3rd Teams Challenge.  This is a bloody great event. Teams of 4, points for the first 10 places, and the winning team for each grade is the one with the most points. Very tactical and a lot of fun.

If you are keen contact Lee Kilousis and he will fill you in.

Yours faithfully
Metro Commuter
(Member of the winning B grade team last year, so get a team and take the prize off me!)

Lee K tells me it is looking like a spanking good field. There is a team full of sprinters, some breakaway specialists, and some guns thrown in for good measure.  If youKve been thinking about entering contact Lee K - his details are on the KOCC website

Hey MC,

Couldn't find Lee's details.  Could you please PM his email address?  I have a team of very slow B graders looking to join the fun :P :P :P

Cheers,

lmac

It was fast. Thankfully the wind slowed the group down at the bridge and on Woodchip. But around the witches hat and the corner after the bridge the acceleration was frenetic. It felt like my legs could spin that fast.
MC's cunning plan of asking me a question so I lose focus & get dropped off the back almost worked.
Staying up the back does not pay.
Big Gav was a casualty. The pack slowed quickly just after the bridge but he didn't. He ran up the back of Noel Brommage, the noise of the bikes was not good.
I reckon the cross wind could have taken out a lighter rider if already off balance. Luckily MC is a well balanced cyclist.

But it was a good race and it showed me how much more work is required.

My cunning plan backfired - I backed myself out. Too long in C grade

The pack slowed quickly

I don't think the pack was going fast enough to slow quickly, if it did that it would have actually been stopped :P

I'd like to race a teams race once a month - way better than just another scratch race or handicap.  Just sayin'

Agreed. Once a month or bimonthly. Keep us keen!
