recovering from chronic illness
« on: September 20, 2010, 10:48:17 pm »
Hi guys i was just wondering if anyone has had chronic fatigue syndrome or any other chronic/ serious illness and been able to recover and get back into some serious racing. I have fought chronic fatigue for years with a recent bout keeping me off the bike for the last 4 months. I have a low immune system so am always struggling to recover from ilness. I would love to beat it and be back up to A/B grade one day but am a little discouraged at the moment.

Glen Lewis suggested I take some of this when I had a sinus infection that I could not shake a couple of years ago.

I have found it works quite good at helping the immune system fight off stuff, you can get it at most health food shops.

Before ANYONE types that I suffer from Chronic Fat Syndrome...

I have an aunt who has battled chronic fatigue for years, and her recovery was all about undertsanding what to avoid, which was for a large part about lifestyle.

Bosstie might be on to something - alternative medicines may provide some assistance that modern medicine does not.  There is, I am told, a very good Dr in The Lunction who is also a practioner in a number of traditional or alternate therapies, and she has helped lots of people but is, I am told, very hard to see.  Will ask around the office, as I can nto remember her name.
Well, no merger so far....

Thanks for the link and advice - i'll check it out. Today was my second day back on the bike - did about an hour and a half on the bike followed by another hour and a half at the gym - squats seem much more painful than i remember. Also has anyone tried Creatine as a muscle recovery supplement for cycling? I know it can be effective for weights but wondered how it rated for cycling.

YEp - but don't ease back in to it to the same extent as Commando - he is easing back in to it so slowly his goal event is the Masters 8 World Track Championships in 2045...Shalom

Not having a go at the Giant, but, that's a slightly silly question, given we all know the answer!

Commando,

What size is your arse now son? Probably never as big as your head........but you can't win everything. Life's a raffle son. You clearly didn't get first pick at some things. Shalom
