Central Division TTT @ Kooragang 5 Sept
« on: August 08, 2010, 01:45:11 pm »
HVVCC is hosting the Central Division 2010 Team Tim
e Trial event at Koorangang Island on Sunday 5 September 2010.  The event starts at 8am.

This event has, in past years, been hotly contested.  Riders compete in teams of 4, with the team being in the CD grade of the highest graded member the 2 highest graded riders (see Robbo's post below).

Now is a good time to select your team and start training.  Speak to your club handicapper about your interest in being in a team

Is that strictly true?

Hillbilly,

I hear you mate, we were indeed graded correctly last year unlike those who took the glory against us.

This topic has been discussed at a couple of meetings since the last TTT and the consensous was still split. I asked for the ruling to be as Metro stated, but I was informed that 2 riders had to be of the higher grade for the team to be graded up. This would not be the case if an A grader rode with 3 C graders etc. It was decided though that riders should show common sense in deciding on their team selections. Riders should preferable be from the same grade however if this is not possible then riders from the grade immediately above or below only can be drafted into the team. The team will be graded that of the highest 2 riders, but as mentioned a rider cannot ride with a team that is graded 2 grades below.

I hope this is clearly enough explained. CD has also requested that team details be emailed in prior to the event (not the night before please) so the handicapper can sort the teams out. Should you be late in doing this, you may not be happy with your resultant grade. You can email them to cdgrader@gmail.com

The Vets are very pleased to advise that they have secured the electronic timing system from CNSW for this event so please also allow time for the transponders to be correctly fitted to your bikes.

Remember please be mindful that this is not an easy event for the host club to put on, so if you could arrive in plenty of time, sign on early and be patient with those that are doing the official sign on and commissaire duties.

Lets hope there is a big field again and no doubt there will be a vast array of bling bikes on show from those that can afford them.

Robbo,

Thanks for clarifying that - I had been told it was as I had typed.  Something to put on the agenda again...

Not sure how many teams have sent their entries in, so if you havent done so please do that as soon as possible so Captain Crash CD handicapper can slot you into the correct grade. Late entries may well find themselves in a grade they didnt think they would be in and therefore not enjoy the experience as much as would otherwise be the case. So far I have only been notified of 4 teams so it could be a very short program if thats the case.

Also as I mentioned in my earlier post, this is traditionally one of the most heavily supported events (more than 4 teams) and hence requires a lot of work by the host club and its officials. If you have any spare time please make yourself available for any jobs that may need doing, even if its only 5 minutes you can offer.

I hope all teams have a safe and enjoyable ride.

The wind meant NOTHING to one K Picton - he is one hard SOB. I mean that is a 110% positive sense to - very impressed with how strong he is.  A man about to move to B grade.

Dear Mr MC,

If my mail is correct (cough), your prediction may take some time before it comes to pass.

The gentlemen in question is a practitioner of the dark art of triathlon.

Cycling is not his primary sport .  There is usually 3 or 4 hours of road training under the belt by the time

that Saturday arvo rolls around.

Perhaps you could convince him to change sports as I hear that you are a most eloquent orator!

Spandy.

Ms Spanky Spandy ;)

Yes, I had picked up he is a man who partakes in the darkest of arts.  I think I will keep quiet, for I now know if he makes a break to get on, and stay on, his wheel and make feeble attempts to take the odd turn here and there.  Don't tell anyone, ok?

But then, I should hound him out of the sport - perhaoops he can be demoralised and get involved on a Club Committee?  It is arguable we need less, not more, amazingly fit and strong tri-geeks making their way to road racing - I will end up in ZZ grade if they keep coming and beating me with superior attitiude, fitness and strength.I might have to go and train and lose weight if this keeps up :D.  Off to buy some lollies and a Coke...

Instead, just add some swimming and running to your 200k per week Metro.  Can't beat them?  Join them...

HJ,

Three problems.

Firstly, I am more fast twitch than slow, so endurance events are not and never will be my strength.  Secondly, while I am (or more accurately, was) a very good swimmer, I am probably one of the worst long distance runners on this planet - I was always dead last in cross-country at school.  Thirdly, you can't draft in tri-geek world, and that is my WHOLE racing stretegy, as Kevin will attest to - I am like a newborn,  in that I do not like wind in my face and cry when something gets too difficult.

Where do we start with you ? You give us so many free kicks. I look forward to seeing those fast twitch fibres at work  during the summer world gang champs.

your fellow fast twitcher.

2nd Wheel

I ned to get out of C grade before I unleash that 1.4kW of raw but short lived power - so many times the C grade sprints have been, in my view, too dangerous.  Never had that problem in B grade.  I just lack your aggression and lack of fear...and speed.  And fitness.  And race craft.  And absence of top-tube rubbing gut.

More free kicks - no one bags me out as well as I do.
