Central Division Race on Saturday 7 August 2010
« on: August 01, 2010, 07:00:28 pm »
Boostie will post something in the correct Events part of this site, but to reinforce the message, Central Coast Cycle Club is hosting Central Division Graded (grades A - E) Scratch races at the Calga course.  Races start at 2.00pm.

Grades can be accessed at http://centraldivision.110mb.com/grades.php .  The location of the course, and the punishing elevation, can be viewed at CCCC's website:  http://centralcoastcyclingclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=241&Itemid=57

The "Orange Tide" has supported events hosted locally by KOCC and HDCC, and it would be good form to return the favour and beat them on their own course ;). About an hours drive from places like Kotara, so not much longer than the usual ride out to The Gang or Blackhill.  Give it a go.

I need some more sagely advice from a Calga Victor and a CD D grade champion.
Masso & MC, any tips for this Sat? The topography appears dynamic. Can I sit behind you the whole way MC, then transfer to Masso for the sprint?

DW,

you are selling yourself short son, those 2 wont make the finish before sundown!

The topography is fine, dont be scared by the map, it LIES! The course is flat!

DW  if you're a half decent climber you can shake the fat bastards like me by attacking on Blood Hill. By the time I've gotten my backside over the hill those with the ability to attack could have gained a decent advantage. The finish straight is a nice, smooth, downhill sprint.

It's a great course and makes for a nice change of scenery from the 'gang.

Thats the spirit hairy one.

As Metronome has stated, it would be great to get as many riders there as possible. The course is a rewarding one that will deliver results to those who take it on. There are plenty of riders from the outer geographical clubs like MVCC and Mus Vegas who travel to the Newcastle based events, as well as quite large numbers of the orange brigade when the CD events are on up here. Lets see how many we can get there.

The only thing flat about that course is the accelerator in your truck as you drive the course. I have ridden there many times and have quite a few podium finnishes  there. Metro I do think has a problem with the hills but the "D" grade champion may still go alright.

DW

Stay close to the front as you approach Blood hill and be in the leading group over the top, Sprint can be a problem as some misjudge the sprint and go too early.

keep you eye on Masso the DW, with such words of wisdom he could be setting you up for a sprint that you start too late!

Metro could win the sprint,, to the first corner

Masso,
I trust your advice.

I see Matt Taylor did a good TT on Saturday.

Sunday morning at the HVV I was riding in the pack and Kevin Murray corides next to me. I congratulated him on his win at Gunnedah and he tells me he just had a big stack with someone in the warm up before the race. His wheel folded in half. He borrowed the wheels of the guy who hit him but he didn't last long as his seat was also broken and he was quite sore.

Also,
We got minutes from the HD/KOCC merger. Sounds promising.

Masso knows all - the Calga course and I go together like Ferret and Felix, or Magic Steve and The Choker.  Not well.

Metro,

You must need to put some kilometres on your car to minimise your fringe benefits tax obligation. I couldn't imagine you driving an hour to get your arse kicked son.......

Metro,

The trip to Calga would be a 3 donut consumption trip each way for you, would it not?

I know it's last minute but if anyone needs a lift to Calga from Newcastle for the race respond to this post or drop me a pm. Got some room in the car.

Ferret,

It depends on the TYPE of donut.  If it is a Krispy Kreme then the high sugar content dictates only two.  However if it is a Donut King then 3 donuts are about right - although as Commuter and the other "downhill specialists" will attest,  the carbo-loading item of choice is a walnut scroll from Bakers Delight.

Will you be racing at Calga today?
