No longer a Hubbard or a Commuter, just a very naughty boy.

Yep:

http://www.whereis.com/nsw/mayfield-west/steel-river-bvd#session=MTA=

Meet in Riverside Dr - the course runs counter-clockwise around the last square block, with Metal Pit Dr being the most easterly of the of the two sides running roughly north-south - the other of the north-south side is shown in dotted lines (the map is a bit out of date).

You won't get lost on this course  ::) - just turn left, then left again, then left again etc until you finish.
Well, no merger so far....

Congrats SS.
I heard E grade's first lap was a cracking speed then the field fell apart. So if you came 2nd you are going well. The timing at the finish takes practice to know when you should start the sprint.

C grade was a good race. There were attacks by several riders. The grade was fit so no one was able to get away. MC wasn't there either. It came down to a sprint. Michael Hogan won. He rode well during the race with a few attacks. I also came second. The circuit is getting better every week. There are just those nasty potholes infront of the HVV building.

DW,

Sorry I missed it - took my kids to the Rosies School of Rock practice session at the Wickham Park Hotel.  Always good to see talented kids who are better than I am somewhere other than on the bike.

I raced the Steel River Crit yesterday - on 7 or 8 started, and 4 (including me) finished.  It was a bit slower than normal crits due to the low numbers, but everyone else in the final 4 was fitter and lighter than I am.  I had to miss a couple of turns in the last two laps, and had NOTHING in the sprint.  Still, best racing going around these parts and it was a good race.  it would have been nice for C grade to be thrown in with A and B grade - larger field.

Metro (man of bright lights and cold bed)

You must be feeling very charitable today as you failded to put the boot into the old man of "c" grade who was unable to be there at favourite part of the race.

Oh well untill next we meet.
keep it rubber side down

2nd (last?) Wheel,

I was kind of glad you were NOT there at the end of the race, as I was thinking (when you were there) "If he makes it to the end I will have to settle for second" as I knew I had nothing left for a sprint even at that early stage of the race, and even when I have something in the legs I can't beat you.

As it was I had to settle for second anyway, as my legs were not very co-operative at all when it came to sprint time.

During the warm down one of the guys did comment on my missing of a couple of turns in the last 3 laps (I had not missed one all race, before you comment), and he said he was not sure if it was due to me being tired or [insert expletive].I replied "A little of both", although it was more of the former than the latter.
Well, no merger so far....

Sounds like a great weekend of racing. I was going to take out a 6 month license and race Sat and yeserday, but unfortunatley a trip to the dentist left my pockets empty - for the next 6 months.

Yeah its tough to be a cyclist supporting a family on one income - the sport sucks up so much money. I remember my parents spending over $10000 a year on me when i was a teenager - at least that's what they claim
