No, you would not unless the people who made the mistakes have nothing to do with the week to week scheduling of races or the season calendar.
Well, no merger so far....

But could they not reference the calendar before announcing the next race?

Regardless of internet connectivity, I suggest they should consult a calendar of some sort.  Will they next time?

HJ -

One would hope they will.  They probably would not know where Lee or Brett keep hard copies, such is the dependence on Lee and Brett.  I can not state highly enough how important Lee and Brett are to the week to week running of KOCC.

Not saying others do not have roles, but they are different roles.  Ian Chapman does a great job being the President and Chief Commissaire most weeks, with Commuter filling in as Commissaire as and when required.  Chris Groves does a good role as Registrar - he makes admin of the club run smoothly.  Therese Brown does entries week in, week out.  Paul Mc does the handicapping, with Lee's assistance.

It is not dissimilar to HDCC, where people have defined roles and when those people are not around, for good or bad or sad reasons, the wheels have come off their as well.  Didn;t hear anyone having a moan when HDCC was unable to run a race because they had the wrong signs and so could not comply with the Blackhill TMP.  It happens.

The indications are this was not an anti-merger thing, as some more excitable HDCC folk thought. Shite happens.

There were plenty of moans (and other things) I can assure you of that. You will hear these in the future with your new role within CD.

Robbo - I know there were moans from within HDCC - I count myself lucky to call most of the HD committee as friends, so I was not bagging HD but making the point poo happens and jumping up and down about the latest dump on the carpet is not productive.

I would gladly organise all clubs and internet for the reasonable sum of $200k/year + $100k for expenses.
Sure it's a pay cut but I feel I owe it to Newcastle cycling.

If you're not volunteering you can't complain.

DW,

Man, I took up law as a career believing it to be the path to riches (it is not, BTW), but I can see being a **** star is much much more fiscally enriching.  Well done - and to think your mates said you'd never make it.

Maninglasshouse,

Those who say barely are just bitter twisted women who missed out on the joys of marrying me.  Mrs MC does not complain too much, but then there is not much to be complaining about...cough cough.
