Yes as long as you have a current cycling license and have documentation to prove it (if you have not raced before, once you show it subsequent races at the same club generally do not require it)

There was, I am told, some confusion about whether there was racing at KOCC or not this Saturday, as HDCC was of the view that it was a joint race at Blackhill for the Bill Ebling Handicap.

My well placed sources tell me that KOCC is holding a race at Kooragang Island at 2.30pm on Saturday 10.7.2010.  HDCC is hosting the Bill Ebling Handicap at Blackhill at 2.00pm.

Well, no merger so far....

Damn I wish I had known this earlier as I had made plans for this weekend that involve no bicycle racing, looks like my run of consistent placings in the handicap have come to an end.

You should undo your non-cycling plans...the current forecast has a 37% (how can they be so accurate?) chance of a shower, and lots of riders are made of sugar...

Yes Metro, today was gazetted as a joint race at Blackhill. Read into it what you may

Robbo - I know that is one view and likely the most accurate one but I would hope not.

I was away last week and missed MC's solo attack at the CD. Pat Webb told me yesterday it was a great KOCC team effort holding back the other clubs.
Masso now has the trifecta for punctures at Kooragang. He looked quite dejected as we rode past him yesterday.

DW - all I can say is my solo attack @ CD seems to have taken its toll on my legs  ::) - the outcome @ Blackhill on Saturday was less than pleasing - the pace was a bot quick for my liking and I stupidly thought "these guys will destroy themselves and me, I'll wait for B grade".  I was not entirely unhappy when I detected a slow leak in my rear tyre, but was disappointed when it was getting too flat to warrant getting on to the back of the A/B bunch when they passed me.

So, for the most part C grade dewtroyed itself but the small number that were left rode hard, forming the winning bunch. A good demonstration of their fitness. The combined A/B bunch seemed a little disorganised but that should not detract at all from the guys who drove C grade hard.

The shortened Blackhill course is a ripper, with almost no place for rest and, strangely, tougher than the normal BH course for - cough cough - those who excel at descending, if you know what I mean.

DW

Just checked weekend results for Sunday. Congrats on winning "c" grade ( Jim is watching). Not to happy 3rd puncture in last 3 races at the gang. have replaced anothe tyre (tractor tyre this time) put a spare in back pocket yesterday dont like walking anymore. I had sized up competition and felt confident of a result (not to be).

Regards

Masso,

You definitely would have resulted & you need the money to cover your $10 donations.

MC,
Matt Taylor who won on Sat is a very fit rider who seems to excel on the Black Hill course. He is very close to B grade with HDCC.

The BE Handicap is usually very well supported.  Why did KOCC race when it was meant to be joint race at Black Hill?  Will HDCC riders support this week's joint race at KOCC?

Matt T rode a great race and should be in B grade after his recent results.

As MC mentioned, the 'new' BH course is pretty tough.......

Napalm,

Matt T rode very well, and he is as fit bugger.

Why KOCC (as a club) did not support the BE Handicap is currently the subject of some debate, and no doubt the truth will surface in due course.  However there were a fair number of KOCC members who did race the BE Handicap, so it would seem regardless of the position adopted by KOCC as a club some of its members did the right thing and raced at Blackhill.

I am told that HDCC will support the KOCC race this weekend.  if HDCC members were smart they would support the KOCC race to demonstrate HDCC and its members support joint racing, even if some KOCC people might not.
