Thor,
Loveboat's email is wrong - it is 2pm.

As I understand it, the current Krypton is the same frame as the previous Platinum.  My Platinum broke, unable to stand the strain of my massive torque output.

Both frames are nice but I prefer the Gallium.  The Gallium is as stiff out of the saddle as the Platinum was but has a touch more vertical compliance and hence comfort than the Platinum. I think the front end of the Gallium is much stiffer than that of the Platinum, and the forks on the Gallium seem stiffer under brakes but not, stangely, if a side load is applied.

Either way, a light weight (relatively) chap like you, with your smoother pedalling style, will find either to be a nice stiff "sprinters" frame, which is no doubt why "The Box" recommended those frames to me.

Aesthetically, the Gallium is a much nicer looking frame.
Well, no merger so far....

Updated grades are here.

http://centraldivision.110mb.com/surnamegrades.php

If your name is not on the list please email cdgrader@gmail.com and let them know your club grade and if you have placed recently in that grade, and how long you have been in that grade.

Thanx for the detailed reply Metro!  Yes the Gallium does look very nice :)
Ill be testing out an Argon on saturday in the form of Kiddys Plutonium.. can you believe that moron has 177.5 cranks !! and he wonders why he has a wrecked back, not to mention his seat was an far back as railly possible.. like riding in an arm chair.. so with a few mods it not suits the THOR!!
had no choice but to keep the cranks however .:(
Now if i can sell the ol trekk 5500 im in business for a new stead..

177.5 cranks - is he compensating for something? ::)

The Pluto pup will have the same, or very similar geometry but will be quite different to the Krpton/Platinum and the 2010 Gallium.  If you want to take my bike for a ride let me know.

Thought I was surprised by the number of punctures

The road works, and the resulting gravel and sharp edged bumps, would have contibuted.  It would be interesting to know how many punctures were "snake bite" punctures - perhaps hard to judge the hard edge when in a bunch.  Be very nice when the road works are finished.

Good result Metro

Hmmm - I thought so, and am still happy with the outcome as I am not a break away kind of guy  - and certainly not for 5 laps. I think the last breakaway I won with was the last C grade race I did before I moved up to B grade, many many moons ago.

I did not intend to break away at all - quite accidental as I was just moving forward to help Sherrie out as it seemed everyone would sit on her wheel - I thought to attack to shake things up, just as you sometimes have to do at a Sunday Vets race.  I was shocked when I looked back at the top of the mighty climb up the bridge to see Sherrie and I had established a gap!  I was even more shocked when the -gap kept growing.  I was hoping when I was caught KOCC riders would counter-attack hard, but that never happened.  It was cool to hear the local boys yelling out to me to keep going...I had "Rockin the Free World - the latest Laughing Bunch tune - in my head the whole race.

I just downloaded my Garmin 500 and it seems my average speed for the 5 laps (broke away from just before the bridge on the 1st lap) was a pretty mundane 34.9 kph.  Yes, there was some wind but not a great deal.  I get the feeling the bunch lost rather than I won, if ya know what I mean.

Good to see you in the winners circle. Is this the start of the long awaited comeback or is there still a way to fall before you bottom out.
keep it rubber side down

2nd Wheel,

As the learned Vets Handicapper said to me a few months ago, after I had won or come second or third or something in an Invitational C grade Vets race, "one win in a couple of years means nothing", or words to similar effect.

I would hope it is the start of a return to previous form, but I will not get too cocky about it.  Wait and see how I go this weekend.

...and after my performance at Blackhill last Satruday, my win at the CD event was not an indicator of improving form...

MC,
I also heard you didn't distribute the loot amongst your team mates. Lone Wolf Racing

Sadly, there was no loot to be had - all you get for being the "2010 CD D grade  Road Champion" is a nice medal (thankyou) and the limited bragging rights that come with that.

I did have a few of my club mates telling what happened, and what they did for me, back in the bunch, which I was not aware of but nonetheless grateful, as it allowed me to fluke a win.  See, if you fail on pathetic breakaways and getb dropped every alternate week people just leave you sitting out there expecting you to fail, and one race in 20,000 you can catch them out. I wonder if I have some French heritage....

It takes years of practised physical collapse and being dropped to lull them in to that belief.  See, I play the long game...

Shalom
