CD Open @ Kooragang Island this Saturday
« on: June 29, 2010, 11:21:15 am »
Boostland has already posted this in events, but in case some of you do not read the Events Category, I thought it prudent to remind people that this Saturday KOCC is hosting the Central Division Graded Road Championships, commencing at 2pm (note: not the usual KOCC time of 2.30pm).  Come and defend the honour of your club, and get to try out the new and improved course at Kooragang Island!

Grades are listed here:  http://centraldivision.110mb.com/grades.php  Any queries about grading contact the CD Grader at cdgrader@gmail.com - but do not leave it until the last minute as that would be rude...

Be there or be squarer than K Rudd at a Metallica concert

Do you need to have a club kit to ride in CD events?

Not to worry - I've found the answer to that:

"Riders must wear their club’s registered shirt or uniform unless they are registered with CNSW as a member of a sponsored team.   No club or team shirt = NO RACE."
Source: http://centraldivision.110mb.com/rules.php

It's just a shame my club had no more kits left in my size.  :(

I doubt that you would be refused enrty for not having a club shirt ( because none available in your size). If you are still concerened contact neil Robinson from the central Division and talk to him about it.
keep it rubber side down

Inexperienced,

As President of the CD Committee I should know the answer to this, but I do not so please forgive me.  Without binding CD, I can say that in recent years people have been able to enter CD events BUT if they place then their club does not get the points in any relevant inter club comp.  I will clarify this with he who knows all, being the aforementioned Robbo, who will no doubt ask his wife what the answer is.

I guess you could ask on the day if you can get a ride, but you might find your graded with at least a C or B grade start, due to you not having your grade submitted to the CD grader.

This might seem a bit harsh, but putting a unknown into a lower grade and having them win the race by a long way is not fair to all the other starters in the grade, and as it's a championship event there is the possibility you might not even be allowed to start without having three races with your club.

I have spare club shirts XXL and XL and a vest that I could bring along if anyone is really in need of one, and I am sure some others might also be able to help out if needed.

Also KOCC have some club shirts for sale in the club house, not sure of the sizes however.

SSer,

Email the CD Grader (link is in a post above) and tell him how you ride.

You can join KOCC on the day - ask to speak to Bob Burley.

Don't worry too much about the club kit issue.

Singlespeeder,

you wont be able to race unfortunately. Under CD rules you need a minimum of 3 club races before you can ride a CD event, particularly championship races as they are this weekend. Sorry to be the bearer of such news but we need to be fair to all riders who race on a regular basis.

Regarding the club shirt issue, we obviously prefer all riders to wear their club kit. If you are registered under a team you may ride that kit however your club will not score points should you place. If you do not own a club shirt the same situation regarding points will prevail. Please lash out and support your club though. The people running your club put in a lot of effort and most of them have done so for a long time and have provided support to all riders within their respective clubs during this time. I cannot see why riders would not wear their club jersey, all the local clubs have good jerseys and are proud clubs. Support your club!

Good luck to all this weekend and safe racing.

Not the whole surface but pretty much most of the bad sections - the first bit they did was that section leading up to the bridge, at the end of the KOCC/HVVCC straight.  It is now a course you are happy to race on.

I would guess Sat will be the bigger race.

METRO..
Im deciding between a Gallium and Krypton.. any pointers? hows that rear stay supporting you?

Im leaning towards Krypton, but my motives may not be completely sane.. However I can’t seem to resist a bike with the same name as Superman's native world.!
You see Krypton was destroyed just after Superman's departure,,, will riding a Krypton in some way gift me with super powers?? All my common sense says NO, but im sure there’s a good 2% chance that it will !! and thats a gamble I might just take !
