Shoddy cervelo paint job in promo photo
« on: October 28, 2009, 08:56:27 pm »
Whilst drooling over some nice bikes i came across this shoddy finish on a P3 that is in plain view...

http://www.competitivecyclist.com/road-bikes/frame/2010-cervelo-p3-6425.html

Click on the main photo then hit next 6 times. There is a photo of the chain stays with a massive blotch of something smack bang in the middle.
You'd think that cervelo would have higher standards than this and even if they didn't you'd think that they'd present a well finished bike for the promotional photos...

Here is the image in question.

No longer a Hubbard or a Commuter, just a very naughty boy.

Yeah thanks Boostie.
I just don't know why the photographer took a photo of a blemish on a bike they are trying to sell  ??? ???

Look at ads in magazines - a fair number of them have typos, or fundamental build up problems with bikes, or are posed with by models who clearly have never seen a bike before.  I think such problems stem from cycling companies engaging ad agencies to do the ads and the agencies may not know enough about the product to recognise a flaw.  Dumb, but it is business.
Well, no merger so far....

Cervelo have been having problems with their paint jobs. They've been getting them done in asia somewhere and the quality has dropped. I bought a new S2 a few months back. When researching on the net I noticed there are alot of unhappy customers on the forums complaining of their paint jobs.
Mine wasn't ****, but it's not perfect which is what you expect when you fork out your money on a bike at in this price range. Spots including the bottom of the head tube and where the colours met were of in small areas.
I looked at several frames and just took the best looking one.

The guy in the shop said the paintjob looks blemished on them because they use as little paint as possible to keep the frame weights low. This leaves the crossover layers of carbon to be visible. Who know?
