I think the real reason is "I don’t want to ruin my sprint finish".  In C grade EVERYONE fancies themselves as a sprinter, when none (me included) are in truth sprinters.  What we have is a bunch of people reliant on other people being too tired to stand on the peddles in the last 100m, so you end up with this peverse race where the least fit can in theory snag a place if everyone else gets really tired.  We could end up having scratach races where people trackstand for 17 days until everyone else passes out from lack of food - and guess who has more stores to last than the rest of you bunters :-)

I hope 2nd Wheel does come back to C grade, because then there will be a real sprinter to neutralise and we might see some exciting racing.  If I were handicapper, and I am glad I am not, I'd shift some of the dross from the back of B grade to C grade, and see if a kick to the ego might incite some effort.

Well something has incited some effort. I saw you training out towards my area of town this afternoon. Trying to find out some secrets are you?

If I needed to follow your lead I just need to pull the brake levers and I will slow down ;-)

No training - riding to Bennets Green to collect the Subie from an $1100 service - front brakes, drive shafts, fluids etc. For that dosh I could get a set of nice wheels!

Ouch!

ah, you would only break a nice set of wheels anyway.

as a fellow Suby owner I can concur with the service costs on them. Not too dear until there is replacement parts required.

You may need to ensure your brake pads are up to the task - I have been ordered off the bike until I get an inflamed hip under control so now I will only get slower. :(

Robbo,

Overall cost of ownership is not too bad with a Subie.

What inflamed hip?  Not evident on Sunday.  Get  a shot, and a TUI, and keep racing.

Yeah the racing prob wont be halted but any training may have to wait for a while. Having typed that I realise I probably wont be racing this weekend as I will be helping out at Wootton and then as jnr cant race vets we will do something else on Sunday (I'm not training Doc, I promise!)

Bloody inflamed hip, didnt realise these age related conditions hit so early in life. I'm only 22 years old arent I?

Those 22 years look like they have been  very hard on you.

Robbo,

FWIW I still think like I am 22 years old as well.  If only I were as fit as I was then...but then I would have to be as daft I was then as well.

Masso,

I am writing a song, and need to put together some lyrics.  Have these words, and hope you might be able to throw them together in to a decent phrase - rock, glass, house...many thanks.

Metro

Can I help you out with a song for yourself. Does a supertramp song from your youth come to mind.

Also many comment that you look older than you are ( don't shoot the messenger).

Supertramp? Never heard of them.  Is that one of those old time bands the old people talk about?

Anyway, I am young and hip - I listen to 2JJ...

Note to all users;

This topic is open to other users as well.

that said, I hope we are keeping you all suitably amused.

Masso, I am told by reliable sources that I still look younger than you - thank God for that! I would never hear the end of it otherwise.

Supertramp aye, know all the songs word for word Masso?

Hip? you had to type that word didnt you Metro, I am sore again now.

Hip is a word that can only be used in one sense with, Robbo.  As in "I have a sore hip and so I can not win races" not "I am sooo hip, listening to my Walkman and driving my new Datsun 120Y" or "Robbo, you sure look hip in those flared jeans and that sequined shirt - man, you got it all happening - there is not a chick alive at the 16 footers who will want to miss a turn in the back seat of the 120Y tonight".

(Apologies to mrs Robbo, who is a nice charming lady, but bagging (not sledging!!) Robbo is a right conferred on all on this forum)

Metro

isn't it 2JJJ

Here are your song lyrics

Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said "Far out, - What a day, a year, a laugh it is!"
You know, - Well you know you had it comin' to you,
Now there's not a lot I can do

Dreamer, you stupid little dreamer;
So now you put your head in your hands, oh no!
I said "Far out, - What a day, a year, a laugh it is!"
You know, - Well you know you had it comin' to you,
Now there's not a lot I can do.

Well work it out someday

If I could see something
You can see anything you want boy
If I could be someone-
You can be anyone, celebrate boy.
If I could do something-
Well you can do something,
If I could do anything-
Well can you do something out of this world?

Take a dream on a Sunday
Take a life, take a holiday
Take a lie, take a dreamer
dream, dream, dream, dream, dream along...

Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
OH NO!

I disagree with the new title to this thread.

From what i have been reading it is still about "what to do now friday night racing is over".

  • Metro is talking about how he now has time to get his car serviced.
  • Masso and Robbo are discussing how they now have time to put on the good threads and head out to see their favourite bands.
