Haddo,

Is that a better title?

Masso,

2JJ was the name of 2JJJ before it moved to the FM band, and before it became "youth mainstream".  2JJ had quite a cult following.  The 2JJ was meant to trip up the young people, but i forget that most from these parts did not grow up in Sydney.  It probably means that most from these aprts missed out on waking up to Doug Mulray every morning...

wow Metro. how old r u really?

and as for this thread being lightly tied to fri night track. it has been hijacked by the squabbling and heckling just like many of the other threads on the forum. yet surprisingly entertaining hearing who is apparently older, fatter, slower and who eats more iced vovo's.

Prior to being renamed, I believe this thread hit 7 pages in length; quite quickly too. Is that a record???

And all threads seem to degenerate into the same old (but very entertaining) heckling. It doesn't seem to matter where the thread is located!

The thread was renamed by someone who obviously wanted to plagiarise material instead of performing life saving surgery on a patient.

the original thread is still there and will be receiving more info regarding this Friday night shortly.

"I am sooo hip, listening to my Walkman and driving my new Datsun 120Y"

Back when a Datsun 120Y was new, there were no walkmans.  This was back in the days of transistor radios and cassette players.

As for being 22,  - about the same time as the 120Y came on the market- I was indeed 22.  And had never owned/ridden a bike.

Robbo - he is not a surgeon - he is an anaethetitist (sp?).  He is the man you really need to trust - the surgeon is just the hack with the knife.

Gai, you are of course correct.  I can recall when Walkman's first came on the market, and it is a while after 120Y's hit the market. I just liked the idea of people thinking a 120Y was a cool car.

MC - your mail is correct.

Robbo - I had nothing to do with the (re)birth of this thread, I somehow became the OP when it was edited.

Looking forward to getting back there next week. For the moment, back to a trimalleolar ankle fracture with the blind leading the blind. Gotta love these orthopods.

Boostie,

as has been said to me on many occasion 'never let the truth get in the way of a good story'

Dr Rob,

that poor patient, I only hope the surgeon isnt talking on the internet as well.

Metro,

we all know you dream of Walkmans and 120Ys and mixing them with your mankini

I just liked the idea of people thinking a 120Y was a cool car.

My husband and I thought so too.  We were going to purchase one, brand new, it would have been our first new car.
However, when we checked how much room there would be in the back seat with two toddlers in Safe N Sound seats, and possibly a grandma,
we needed to upgrade to a 180B.

If we had been comfortably well-off, we could have had something really cool:  a 260C or a 280Z.

This topic is so much more fun than regrets about the GFC.
  (I know this is plagiarism
One of the Commuters used this term in a similar fashion several months ago)
But it is appropriate in this context

2JJ had quite a cult following.

My brush with fame!

Back before 1980, I was playing hockey at Rushcutters Bay for UNSW.  That year we WON the Sydney Grand Final for our grade.
One of the younger players in our team, (I think I was the only one who had already completed my degree), had a crush on one of the DJ's at 2JJ.

As their studios were in William Street (near SCEGS), she would insist that some of us would accompany her there after our matches, to give a report on that day's game.

I even have (somewhere) a photo of our victorious team with some of the DJ's at a post-grand final party.

It is of course in Black & White. (Colour was heaps more expensive).

To quote another oldie that used to play on the radio:

"Those were the days"

Boostie,

What story are you referring to ?

I don't think I was story telling in this thread.
No longer a Hubbard or a Commuter, just a very naughty boy.

A 260C! I remember doing donuts in a mate's parents 260C in the park at Meadowbank in 1985! It was huge fun and, yes, it was a big park.
