If you wait a few months you can get a 6 month license, or if you wait until October you can get a 2011 license that starts in Oct 2010 and runs till end of Dec 2011.

Day Permit $33

    *  A temporary membership permit valid for one (1) race/event
    * Provides insurance benefits for the duration of the event only
    * Not valid for state and national championship events and restricted for some other major events, as determined by CA/state association

Save your $$ and wait for the 6 monthly you will be spending close to the same amount if you get 3 x $33.

Singlespeeder,

bring you bike along to the velodrome on Tuesday or Friday (BBQ night) from 6pm. It's not club specific and you will get plenty of time amongst riders from all clubs.

Singlespeeder,

All the local clubs put on good races.  HDCC tends to cater better for those in A and B grade, and treat C grade pretty well, wheras KOCC caters for C grade and below better than it caters for A and B grade.  KOCC races almost exclusively at Kooragang Is, which is a flat course and a good place to learn.  HDCC races at Blackhill on a Saturday over winter, Korragang Is on Friday nights, and Steel River once a month.

HVVCC is a slightly different club, but still a good one.  HVVCC caters for the 30+ crowd, and puts on racing at Kooragang Is each Sunday - once a month they have a handicap, another Sunday they have an invitational (men less than 30 can race at the invitational) and the other two sundays are vet graded scratch races.

Each of the three clubs allow riders from other clubs to race (Vets only allows non-vet men to race once per month) except for each Club's Club Championships.

It does not matter which club you join - they are all pretty friendly.

Metro is spot on with what he says above.

If you have mates you train with join the club they are in, and if your male and under 30 then you can't join Vets as they are Womens (vet and non-vet) and Mens veteran club only.

If you have junior offspring wanting to race, either KOCC or HD would be the club as you and your children can be in the same club, KOCC has more junior racing they run a junior race most Saturdays if enough numbers turn up, HD runs junior races at the crit once a month.

Juniors from both clubs are more than welcome and encouraged to race at both clubs races.

I have 3 relations all racing in KOCC ranging from 12 to 66
