The Sydney Sprint Series- info
« on: April 15, 2010, 08:01:24 pm »
An email I recieved about the Sydney Sprint Series, it would be great to get a bunch of riders from Newcastle down there, Paul Craft always puts on a good show. Hope lots of you can make it. :) :) :)

Hey Guys

Just a quick note to ensure that you are aware of The Sydney Sprint Series I am running next weekend (Saturday) 24th April 2010

This is a Trial Event
This is the first time this event has been run in Sydney and will need the backing of cyclists like you to ensure its success. If it is popular I will endeavour to repeat the series again during the year and hope it can become a sprinting institution in the way it has in Victoria. Visit http://sss.aboc.com.au/ to see how popular this format has become. To rent the DGV and officials for such an event is not cheap. So I will need decent numbers to ensure a success. Let your friends know!

More information
As always the first point of call is the RAW Track website www.rawtrack.com.au
Entries are on the day with 200m fly’s starting the event at 10am. This will seed all riders and determine who you will be sprinting against in round 1. The draw is broken into grades of 8, so you should be sprinting (2 up sprints) against people of similar speed.  Everyone gets the same amount of racing whether you are sprinting for 1st or 31st.

I’m not Sprint fit
Big deal! You will still be sprinting against riders of similar speed. You will get a heap of practice and develop new tactics in match sprinting whilst having a load of fun. If the event is a success and runs again, you can show us all next time how quick you are or how much you have improved.

RSVP
If you email me your interest I can put you on the printed list which will speed up sign on. This does not mean you are committed to turn up, but it will help me with logistics if you do.
Send your name and club, to pcraft@vtown.com.au

Spread the word and hope to see you at the Dunc.

I'm pretty keen to head down. Looks like a good way to get some track time in a fairly controlled and not-too-scary manner. I look forward to being schooled by riders twice my age.

I'd have a spare seat or two in the car if you don't mind your bike travelling on the roof racks.

Or, dare I say, half your age.  Jonah is looking a bit like Weapon lately.
Well, no merger so far....

No probs mate. As I have no idea who is behind any of the usernames on this forum, you'd best find me via PM. I'll try to get to the track for Friday's training if you want to catch me then to sort out times, etc.

Panda is faster than you think ;)

And with Panda on this new bike the speed will be something to behold.

Just to clarify - I make no claims about being faster than anyone, young or old!

I'm looking forward to when all these junior hotshots find beer and women. I might be waiting a while however.

Oh maybe I misread this then

if you want to catch me

I thought it was a challenge to a race at training :P

Oh so fast women and beer can make you a faster bike rider eh ?

Maybe that is what I need.

Race at training? I barely hang on! Any top end speed I had has evaporated after Easter's shenanigans.

If fast women and beer drinking made you a faster rider, I'd be at the Olympics (well, as far as beer is concerned).

It's a good excuse nonetheless.

I thought that was what the Amstel Gold Race was.

Dr Rob (aka diskman)

You underrate yourself. If you ride the track you have to talk yourself up. Listen to Robbo & Metro see how well they trash talk.

keep it rubber side down

you do OK on the trash talk front yourself 2ndwheel.

However I dont ride track, I just try to run things there as best I can along with the great helpers we have. Also Metro doesnt seem to ride track either - 2 modest showings doesnt qualify - I am not sure your link in riding the track is all that valid. I do however agree that diskman needs to HTFU and start up his own brand of trash talk. A capable rider needs that to help get him or her to the next level.

See you all at the velo on Friday night. Starts at 6pm

Trash talk needs to be backed up with results, or it remains just talk.

The Force is strong in this one, and I have been studying the Way of the Ferret and others.

Ready soon shall I be to talk amongst you.

Robbo ( i can't find my trackie anymore)

My trash talk is like my racing style (if you can call it a style) very fast for a short period, but then just splutters to a incomprehensible heap looking for the next exit.

regards

Use to be fast & furious
keep it rubber side down

2ndwheel (he'sahasbeen),

you indeed do still show glimpses of speed and a few months back could hold that speed for while as well. All is not lost.

Regards
