If individuals have additional fundraising ideas for the night perhaps contact Ian Lovell from HDCC?

BTW, the name of the band comprising a number of local cyclists who ride better than they make music is "The Laughing Bunch".  The Pedal Philes name was a joke, and an inappropriate one for a band taught by a School that also teaches kids...

Ian Lovell informed those  @ the KOCC race today (26.4.2010) that 200 tickets had been sold, so it would be great if the remaining 100 tickets are also sold.  Bonus is you get to see and hear Ian Lovell sing, and he CAN sing.

Just noticed that this is on the same day as the CD at Wootton, in previous years I have got back home well after dark.

What time would be too late to turn up for the meal if I wanted to go to this and do Wootton ?

By the time I get home and showered and in there I suspect it would be close to 8 PM.

Others involved in the organising can say about the time meals are likely to be served.  Looking at internet sources:

1.  The race starts at 2.00pm .

 2. Assume the race take 1.5 hours - so if well oragnised riders leave promptly then thay could leave by 3.30pm or say 4pm.

It is 124 km from Speers Point to Wooton, which is estimated to take 1 hr 50 minutes.  So you might return home by  say 6.00pm.

My suggestion - shower in a can and get changed in to your dancing clothes at Wooton...:-)

One of my regular customers who is related to Brian (actually Robyn, I believe) has passed on a very positive report from Robyn re Brian's continued progress.  The expected date of his return home is not too far away.

So it would be great if we can contribute a substantial amount to help pay for all the house alterations. etc

Gai,

I have not seen Brian for about  4 or 5 weeks, but having seen him from time to time since Mick asked me to go and see he and Robyn a while ago I have, each time I have seen him, been amazed at how he has improved from the previous time. I am not a medical person (yet?) but I am not surprised that he could return home once the home has been properly modified for his special needs.

However, that progression has only got him a point - he needs full time care, he needs special fixtures in the home he owns with Robyn and wishes to return to, he must use an electric wheelchair to get around, and he needs an appropriate vehcile that will take his wheelchair. Those at the Anzac Day race will recall that Brian could not attend because to get him ready to attend would have required nruses to be rostered on from 6am, so he needs a fair bit of assistance to get out and about.

This night is a very necessary and good thing.

This event has now sold out - it was slightly oversold!

There are many generous donations, many to be raffled, forthcoming.  I can disclose The Ferret has donated one such gift - some fun might be had with that one.

The Laughing Bunch (sans Chai Lord, who was working) had their last practice last night, and it should be interesting.  We have a practice gig at a secret location tomorrow night, then nuthin' until Saturday night. Someone suggested the guitar solo made as much sense as TT King on a keyboard....so, only 4 sleeps until the big night

How many strings have they allowed you to have on the geeetaar? One might be all that is required as we wouldnt like to see you get confused with such a big audience!

Apologies for my non attendance to this event, I had been ill all week and was holding off buying a ticket until I was feeling better, sadly all tickets had sold out earlier in the week.

I have donated what the ticket price would have cost plus the cost of a few drinks instead, better than turning up and donating the head cold I have.

Bootsie,

I did the same as you and missed out getting a ticket because I left it too late.

I have also made a donation, but not as generous as yours.

The attendees will have to fill us in on the entertainment that we are going to miss out on.

Good idea not to spread your head cold to the rest of the Newie cycling fraternity.

congrats to all that attended and donated. Ian lovell tells us this morning at racing that they raised $20,000 last night ,what a wonderful outcome for  a beautiful person . Our hopes for brian are that he keeps improving and that he knows he is very much loved and thought  of by  the newcastle cycling  community .

Simply Ranga,

Yes indeed.  Latest email from iLovell has the total amount raised as being over $25,000!

There is the opportunity to raise more money for Brian.

On each table on Saturday night there was a brochure which offered a free Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship subject to a number of conditions, one of which was to donate to Brian Radcliffe the fee my firm would normally charge for doing the POA and EG.  A POA and EG is something we should all have, and for me it was a case of killing to birds (improving the legal position of people so they do not have the same problems that Brian and Robyn experienced after his accident - and they have authorised me to speak about those problems; and raising funds for Brian R) with one stone. If 20 individuals take up the offer then it will rase an additional $4,000!

I will, when my very capable PR person sends me the document electronically, post the brochure on the Forum and have it circulated to the three local clubs, so if people want to take up the offer then they can do so.
