Fast Gai,

"Slower" is a relative term.  What you mean to ask is "will there be racing that is of interest to me?", for there are riders slower than you and there are riders faster than you.  There are few riders as dedicated as you.

Well, no merger so far....

Friday night track racing will start with races for divison 1 and 2. I would envisage that you may struggle somewhat Gai as the others in your grade at the moment are predominantly young up and comers who are getting faster every time they hit the track. As they move up to C grade and above, they will no doubt be replaced by the next group who are also going really well.

It will be run as a learn as we go type meeting. If there are sufficient numbers for each level of speed, ability and endurance, then that group MAY get its own race. The night will have to be run witout delays and wont drag on too long on cold nights. Warm nights may be different. I am hopeful to provide a satisfactory outcome for all riders so lets see how it grows.

Also, the upcoming calendar for the track - weather permitting - is as follows;

16 Feb, heats for the Dennis Blunden Memorial Wheelrace
23 Feb, final of the Dennis Blunden Memorial Wheelrace
2 Mar, rounds 1 and 2 of the Newcastle Track championships
9 Mar, rounds 3 and 4 of the Newcastle Track championships

Raffle tickets during these nights will be on sale with the major prize being a set of token track wheels.

There will be sponsored money on as well as the trophy the for the Blunden, and there will also be another major wheelrace before the end of the summer track season.

that is correct 2ndwheel. The suggestion to retire the Godbolt for the Blunden was made by Ron's family after Dennis's passing. A nice jesture.

I've got the Dennis Blunden Memorial Wheelrace trophy at my place. One this exam is out of the way (1 week) I'll bring it along to a Tues or Wed night. Hell, I might even bring my bike.

watch this space folks, Friday night track racing (Winter Heat) isnt that far away.

like I posted prior, the racing will be designed more towards fitting in with the winter road season, so there will be no excuses for the supposed "I'm only a roadie' rubbish that we keep hearing.

Only variance to the requirements will be to bring warm clothes, and a stationary trainer to keep you warm and the legs moving while the other division is on.

BBQ will be on as well so we can warm your insides as well.

simple red,

maybe you could do some commentary? That way you will get to excercise something during the night (or are you excercising in the stands?)

dont be shy

Is this an example of the pot calling the kettle black?

( I recall your recent post re MC polling/poling female cyclists) !

I suspect that Simply Red would not be keen to be considered as  "simple"

the word simple was typed on purpose. You obviously missed the intentions of that post

OK you mob, dust off those track bikes, WINTER HEAT is here.

Friday night track racing starts this Friday weather permitting.

racing will be for Juniors, Division 1 and 2. Div 1 will start out as A & B graders from the summer season and Div 2 will comprise C & D graders.

Program for this week will be predominantly longer controlled races that will fit in better with road race training.

Races will be motopaced and scratch races this week.

Be there or miss out. Big money on for best placed on points at the end of the WINTER HEAT!
