Both, and you know that!

As for Friday night, please note the following from the HDCC Secretary;

Hi All,

due to the early start to the coal loader expansion project we will be using the NEW CLUBHOUSE on Greenleaf road.  Ross is putting the club banner up in the compound so you will know where we are.

So for the next few weeks the course will be the "hot dog" so we keep well away from Cormorant Rd.  We should be able to get some good racing with attacks coming thick & fast each time you get out of the u-turns.  It should certainly put a bit of excitement in the racing!

Also a reminder about keeping a straight line and not crossing over the centre of the road.  If you do you will be DQ'ed so unless you have a really good reason for doing it and I mean GOOD reason like "a
bomb exploded on your side of the road and left a massive big hole"
you won't get away with it.  Do it, cop the penalty and walk away with just a DQ, start to argue and the fines will follow as well as a suspension.

Remember officials are hard to come by but there are always more riders.

Till next time Ian

Well Friday night velodrome traing has obviously finished for the summer months, but training is still available Tuesdays and Saturdays.

If you want some real entertainment, come along to the racing on Wednesdays.

As an extra incentive, from this week we are commencing the A grade interclub challenge between Hunter District and Kooragang. This will be run as a 'filler' event where there is a space in proceedings that would otherwise be filled with nothing, or the next race where riders would still be recovering and not quite ready.

These 2 clubs go back years in their competitive nature and it will be great to see how this challenge plays out as the weeks tick by and the points accumulate. I am sure each will have the view that they will have the wood on the other so lets see who will prevail. In my opinion, just looking at the riders roster of each, it will be very close. There are some very good riders on both sides, and hopefully it will also bring out some older riders who havent been there for a while.

We arent a licenced TAB agent so we cannot take bets, so you will just have to turn up and cheer your clubmates on.

Good news folks, the state government has approved a grant to help get the crit circuit started at the velodrome.

to those who dont want it, easy, DONT TURN UP!!

To those who want a race circuit that is fast and free of vehicular traffic, come along and find out what is happening, and what needs to be done to get this thing done.

As a parent of a junior cyclist I can only say that I wish the crit track was in when my boy first jumped on a bike and wanted to learn how to race. It would have been so much safer than the options we had.

Robbo what are we turning up to in order to help? This sounds like it can only be a great thing for the cycling community.

PHL'd,

as soon as we have the final approval from council we can start to prepare the site. I will be posting here with requirements when we get to that stage. Thanks for showing interest, it will be a good thing for us all. Obviously it will not be replacing any of the current road racing circuits, but will definitely be there for crit racing and for juniors and others to train on etc.

I will keep you informed.

This topic started some 10 months or so ago when the Friday night world series finished at the end of daylight saving.

there is a suggestion that we race on Friday nights at the velo during winter this time as an option. Races would be of a longer nature, say 50 lap scratch races, points races, moto pace races etc.

Would many of you go for that? we would run the BBQ and drinks etc, maybe even some soothing back ground music to ease the pain of the week's work?

Feedback please folks, if its a resounding NO, I wont bother trying it.

I would feed your back if we can have events like that, maybe even some madisons would go down well.

It's a pity that Townson oval is still not in use, the road bike races that were run on that during the track nights were a good starting point to get riders into track racing.

Masso,

You are soundly beaten son. Turtle has 36 more broken collarbones than you. You can't even win a collarbone breaking contest. Next, you'll be telling everyone you're a roadie. Shalom

Hell yes!  Wed nights suck for me due to work but Fri nights would be great - 630 start.  Heck, if Rosie brings Rock along as well might even get my guitar obsessed son to turn up to help with the tunes
Well, no merger so far....

Do you need approval to put a band on regularly?

Robbo,
That sounds good.
Anything to put variety into the racing.
Maybe the criterium track will be built during that time.
DA submission $5,000
Engineering: Stormwater & structural $10-$15,000.
Concrete: allow $90/m2 for excavation & concrete. I don't know the dimenions but 1km long x 3m wide = $270,000
Drainage
Lighting
Long service levy
CC fees
If you need help in any of the criterium work let me know.

velo only at this stage folks, crit track planning is getting there albeit slower than we would all like.

Feed my back? I always knew I had to NEVER turn my back on you Metor! As for road bikes on Townsen oval, you had best wear a full face helmet if you suggest that to Chappo!

Next band night will be in October, and will be HUGE! we are already planning it.

Would the sessions be structured to allow for slower riders  ??
