Metro

Glad to hear the once formidable Sledo is starting to show some glimpses of his former glory. Sorry I couldn’t be there to see it, was still recovering from RAW track racing the night before. Went and raced in God’s Country yesterday. Longest road race I have had for many years. The Harde’s Man suggested to his fellow club mates during the race that it would not be a good idea to let me still be there after 56Km. He was right on the money.
Regards

The rest of us enjoyed the track side BBQ last Friday.

Speak for yourself.  Metro was looking quite buggered early and went home before the sausages were cooked.

hj

Are you saying that Metro was the only one who was looking outdone  "early".

I tried to tag onto Karsten but couldn't hang on for more than a lap or two and then when he was finished a certain A/B grader was tailing the bike so this struggling D grader didn't dare attempt to sit on at what I presumed was non-D grade speed.  Things didn't get any better for me as the night wore on.
But this was no reason for me to depart early.  (I am amazed how stubborn I am to persist with track- if I had any sense I would give up).

The only positives for me before adjourning to the BBQ were that we didn't have any threat of moisture and that my second 200m fly was faster than my (lacklustre) first.

HJ - yes. I biting comes too easily which is why I am so fat.

57th Wheel - Seldo is back training - joining him for a quick 65 in 5 mins.

Gai - just remember - no one else locally is entitled to wear the UCI Rainbow jersey.
Well, no merger so far....

there was only a small quantity of sausages available on Friday night anyway so it was a good thing the hungier amongst us were not in attendance. We still had 15 riders there so that was great.

Next time you intend on joining in Metor, let me know and I will ensure Wazza purchases sufficient supplies.

There may have only been a small quantity of sausages, but Wazza and gang reserved one for the only female rider in attendance.
Thanks guys.  (There was plenty of fried onion and bread).

Thanks also to Robbo for picking up a spare tube for me so that I didn't have any problems at Saturday afternoon racing.

the weatherman has promised me that it will be dry for tomorrow nights sess.

Stefan Chapman will need some assistance on the infield as I am required to escort my wonderful wife out to her birthday dinner.

To do the Stefan Assistant job the only requirements are as follows;

Ignore his incessant calls for you to 'come over here'
Suggest anything that contradicts what he says
Point out how far his stomach is protuding these days
Constantly mention how poofy his jacket is
ALWAYS cheat when pushing a rider in a race against the one he is pushing
Ask lots of off topic questions

there are more, but I have to get back to work, so anyone who could do with an evening of entertainment please turn up and assist.

Tonight will be the last Friday night track training for this season. Robbo might even threaten to get on a bike if some other part of his old body doesn't let go.

If my sources are correct, and we all know the answer to that, the prima donas (HDCC) have acquired an additional (and waterfront!) Clubhouse on Kooragang Is, and it is from this new clubhouse that Friday night racing will be conducted.  My sources tell me it is located towards the end of the same straight the KOCC and HVCC clubhouses are located, just south of the bridge.

Looks to me like HDCC sees KI as the place to be...

Do they have an affinity with magpies?
No, I don't mean Eddie McG's team,
but the flying variety.

The current clubhouse is just before the bend where we used to have that lovely bird near the turn-around
And I think the other maggie a little north of the clubhouse of the club of champions (!) is still about.
Sounds rather too close for comfort by your description MC.

Unless we all practise the "rooster salute"

No changes to the venue at the Velodrome folks, but numbers are on the rise which is great. We have a hord of new juniors thanks to Chappo's efforts, and there are few new oldies as well.

Why not join in? One 'oldie' said to me the other night that he hadnt enjoyed riding a bike that much in years!

Training is on tonight which is a very cheap training session at $5 including track bike hire, no cars or trucks to fight for space with, no wildlife (apart from 2ndwheel), and the place is fully lit. check it out either tonight or at racing tomorrow where you can see that we provide for a wide variety of riders.

Dont be shy, just do it!!!
