Robbo,

I wish it were that easy - work and an illness in the family are creating too many time pressures  to indulge in track at the moment, as much as I wish it were otherwise.  I am pushing to race at Calga on Saturday as it is, and Sunday racing is out.

re Tuesday night training

I thought I was rather clever assessing the rain possibilities on Tuesday, after consulting various weather reports and radar images.
Until I arrived at the track to find that the weather we had had in the Wild West was quite tame compared to the deluge that Newcastle apparently experienced.

The concrete in the storm water drain was dry from the wind, so I knew that the track bank would be too - I wasn't going to trudge through all those puddles to view the track directly.

Next time, I will make some phone-calls as well, instead of not ringing until I found that no-one else seemed to be arriving.

As luck would have it, I will have to leave early again this Friday, as another of my progeny is having a birthday dinner.

Junior Robbo finally got the better of Tirian Mcmanus at Dunc Grey in tactical race of rock paper scissors. Robbos secret training regime is out.
keep it rubber side down

Gai

The duckboards and the infield were underwater when I called in there somewhere between 5.30 and 6 last Tuesday.

the concrete above the blue line may well have been dry but there are other considerations to take on board when deciding if the track is safe or not.

Sorry you drove all that way. Give Phil a call as he is usually the first to arrive and would be best positioned to provide you with an early assessment.

It is heartening that you and Robbo are mindful of the frequent driving points I expend to come to track training.

However, by 5.58pm on Tuesdays, I would usually be in postcode 2292, and have changed, checked tyre pressures etc and hopefully even have done some laps.

A tad late to just do a U-turn.!!!!!!

This time, I had rung Phil and headed for the ergo instead.

Then after 10minutes when I changed up a gear, one of the chains fell off.
Lots of fun putting it back, particularly as the ergo lives in a fairly confined corner of the family room.

Weather looks OK for Friday but this week I am going to chance it and see whether I am up to Division 5 standard this year.

Rumor has it that Old Robbo(as opposed to surfarobbo) has been sharpening his cooking utensils for  a possible return to his beloved track side BBQ. His love of a good sausage sanger  has been sorely mist on his far flung trips around the state.

So last Friday at RAW, Junior teamed up with Tirian in the Madison for a podium finish.

Does this mean that the new tactics are

a case of "if you can't beat them, join them"   ??

The rest of us enjoyed the track side BBQ last Friday.

Rumour has it that "far flung trips around the state" might include the big smoke which boasts an indoor velodrome.

Speak for yourself.  Metro was looking quite buggered early and went home before the sausages were cooked.

HJ - I had been there for a quite a long time prior to your arrival, and spent a very enjoyable period pretty much solo behind the moto.  Left when I did for two reasons - first, I do not need to eat any more sausages, and second Sledo offered me a lift home and that meant home earlier.

I enjoyed the track training - will try to attend more often.

yeah, late decision to go to RAW and stay here this coming Friday.

Glad to hear the BBQ was in good form, but it would appear that Mrs MC had a slab of Iced Vovos ready at home for the big fella. It would appear there are some things we just cant compete with it.

Metro
Is this Kim's new nickname due to the speed at which he can disappear of the back of a race at the moment?

2nd Wheel,

Sledo?  It was a typo but perhaps it is fitting.  Sledo did well at racing consdiering his total absence of training - he did a couple of huge attacks.  He fell off the back on Saturday after cramping, and was spent on the ride home.  it was a gutsy ride by the man with the unbroken Bianci.

Robbo,

No Iced Vovos, but I knew there was a meat pie in the oven waiting for me and did not look forward to the climb up Carnley Ave after trying to keep up with Matt Ryan a couple of times.
