All levels of fitness are accomodated for, its only a 200m track after all.
200m is too short when one is threatened with being lapped in a race. The longer the track is, the longer the weaker riders can stay in a race.
After 4 years of training and racing it is extremely disheartening not to be able to finish a "warm up scratch race".
As far as training goes, everyone can stop worrying. The chances that any of you out there are going to be beaten by this "granny" is rather remote, much to my frustration.
If I was fortunate enough to find someone who is just a little faster or slower than I am, I would have a much better chance of actually getting( incrementally) faster.
The best training partners are those who are roughly one's level. Not those who are considerably fitter, stronger, faster.
If any E or F graders read this, please consider coming to keep me company, At least until you develop track speed and then leave me in your wake.
On another note, this Friday will be my last track training session before I go to Melbourne to visit my second oldest son - and chase the other women around DISC at the Australian Masters Track Champs.
So, please can we not go all out on the endurance factor in this first week.?
