I have been informed by a number of people on the HDCC Committee that HDCC is not hosting racing @ Blackhill this Saturday.  HDCC is hosting crit races @ Steel River on Sunday morning.

So, if you wish to race locally on Saturday, it is the ITT @ Kooragang hosted by KOCC.  Note it is a 2 lap ITT, not the usual 3 lap ITT.
Well, no merger so far....

Results from the KOCC ITT on Saturday now available.  Will email them to Boostie for him to post as I am too inept to be able to do that.  High points:

Tony Heany had the fastest time, hopefully shutting the naysayers up.  11.25 for the first lap and 11.23 for the second!

Brett James has the second fastest time - 11.36 first lap and 11.28 second.  Chaloub was third and "Go Steve" was fourth.  Less than a minute between the top four.

Ian Ewart's time of 24.05 would have put him 5th overall - not bad for an old fella!

Fastest chick?  Karen Webb - 13.11 and 13.04.  Nicely done.

Daddy Walrus kicked my large and seemingly getting larger backside by 18 seconds - well done. Am looking for my "Book of Excuses" but I think I have to simpyl to say "I am not good enough"...

Six HDCC riders went to Central Coast on Saturday. Don't know if they want us there to often.

Dave Witherden  2nd "A" grade
Craig Rosevere    3rd "B" grade
Bruce Masson      2nd "C"  grade
Gerard Morton     3rd "C" grade
Justin Jefferson   4th "B" grade

Masso - you, 2nd in C grade, at Calga?  Wow - that is impressive.

The young guy (compared to my age) got away on blood hill and rode well to the line by about 50m and i won the bunch (what was left of it) sprint by a number of lengths.

But you MADE it to the finish with the bunch and then won the sprint - I do not think I have ever finished with the bunch at Calga.  I hate the place - I think it is a horrible course designed to expose all of my many weaknesses.

Metro

With all the early morning "Ks" you are racking up you may not have any weaknesses left to talk about. I enjoy the gosford course have always done well there. I'm off to Canberra this week am taking the bike to find some hills to get some training in, Lookout.

Hills?  What are you training for?  We have no hills in these parts.

Well, I will do the Hills ride tomorrow morning, just to cover your hills training in Canberra.

If you see Tony Abbott, make sure you tell him if he offers to provide a complete cycling nirvana in newcastle (enclosed velodrome, high value crit course, and dedicated road racing course) he will get 600+ votes at the next election.

Masso,
2nd at Calga, damn.
This Sat is a combined race at HD. I am putting your name in the cryogenic freezer next to Walt Disney's head.
MC you're in the defrost tray as you will be away this weekend.

Why is Kevin Picton in D grade? His TT result was very good.

DW -

My ITT time might be another reason to pull me out of the freezer - not my fastest but then that applies to every race these days.

You will find Masso will say after he has done well something like "I can not back up - do not expect anything from me this race", and often he is correct.  However, the crafty old dog will dodge the glass and draft like a Hadley to put himself in the lauch zone for the sprint.  If you can get him down to zero degrees Kelvin that might be wise.

re KOCC ITT

Well, last year's F grade champion (who was 2nd in 2009 in the TT- might have been 2nd out of 2- not sure)
is now the slowest in the grade.
In spite of all the training....
The rider who beat me by 25 seconds last year was 5 minutes faster than me this year over 2 laps instead of 3.

That doesn't worry me so much, he is young enough to be my grandson if I had any.
But to be the slowest of all is disappointing.

Why is Kevin Picton in D grade? His TT result was very good.

Cause he really has no idea how to cycle race!!!!

From memory about 6 or 7 starts (including Vets) in D Grade for only 1 result and that was the points race......

Been getting smashed at the end every week  :'(

Can we TT every week ;)
