Hey guys if any of you go with an open group (open to strangers) on a saturday - which group do you go with and what are the positives/ negatives of the ride?

I try to RACE on Saturdays, and hence do none of the Saturday morning rides.  I did the Hadley ride once and it was cruisy.  People I know have done, or did in the past, the Two Wheel ride and thought it was good but a little quicker than the Hadley ride - I do not know if it is as I have never done the TW ride.
Well, no merger so far....

Yes, they must be freaks.  I stop metabolising my immense fat stores after about 40km.
Well, no merger so far....

I ride the TWI shop ride on Saturdays, the pase sits generally on between 30 and 32 kms most of the time and pushes up as we go around honey suckle for the sprint up the hill near newy beach. its a preaty friendly ride and there is generally a good turn out and all riders are welcome. and it starts from the shop at 715am.

On Sunday there is also a ride that starts at the 1st driveway at Sandgate Cemetary and goes out to the 2nd round about at Raymond terrace then back in to 2300 coffee shop in newcastle it starts at 715am, the pas is alittle higher than two wheel ride and is around 32-35 with 3 sprints for fun. you can start the ride a bit earlier if you want from the Big Carington Roundabout at 645-650am. 4-5 people generally start at roundabout the rest at the cemetary.

Hope this helps.

The Omega ride goes out from the back of Omega cycles at 0600 on Sat morning. There is often a fair no. of people - 30-40 last time I was there, with a broad level of skill in bunch riding. Includes a lot of triathletes (I think)  - read into that what you will. Friendly bunch, do approx 70 to 100km, depending on the loop. Ian will email you out the course for the week if you sign up on the Omega cycles website.

Regarding the TWI ride - probably a good one to do if you are racing Sat arvo!
Jens Voigt once challenged Lance Armstrong to see who had more testicles. Jens won by 5.

Yeah thanks guys. I've been out with the Omega pack a few times - I usually meet the pack at Hexham as i come from Maitland. I've found it to be a good ride, Ian does a good job getting the different levels of riders together. I just get a bit skittish in the legs sometimes and like to be at the front of the pack. I do like the pace once you hit the pacific highway on the way back. Seems to be a free - for -all and is challenging when you are unfit like me. I know there is a pack that leaves from maitland to go to Newcastle but they go too early and i couldn't be bothered getting out of bed earlier. I'm not an early morning person due to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so i was hoping that there was a pack that i could join up with later in the morning during winter. I might try the TWI ride at some stage. Will be getting my license in a few weeks so will prob just race of an afternoon at Kooragang and Sunday mornings at Steel River.

Thanks
