Tuesday and Friday night track training sessions ?
« on: June 22, 2010, 08:33:46 am »
Hi all, my partner and I are very interested in coming along to the night time training sessions that are held on Tuesday and Friday nights, but I have a few questions. If someone or a few people could help answer them it would be greatly appreciated.

1) Do both training sessions start at 5:30PM? And when do they run till?

2) Is it still $5 for bike hire and training?

3) I was told to bring peddles and cleats, is this correct?

4) My partner rides an XS bike, are there hire bike that cater for her?

5) Is there a point of contact to find out if the session has been cancelled?

6) What is the velodrome address?

Please feel free to add any more useful information that may help myself, and others who may be interested but dont want to post.

Cheers

Il answer what i can.

1) Do both training sessions start at 5:30PM? And when do they run till?

Both start around 6:00pm, but its better to be there around 530 to warm up and get ready, talk shop etc. You want to be early especially if your hiring a bike.  Both are generally wrapped up by around 7:30 - 8:00pm.

2) Is it still $5 for bike hire and training?

Yes $5 for the training, which includes a loan bike if needed.

3) I was told to bring peddles and cleats, is this correct?

Yes bring some pedals and know your seat height.

4) My partner rides an XS bike, are there hire bike that cater for her?

Should be something there, there is a heap of bikes hanging around.

5) Is there a point of contact to find out if the session has been cancelled?

Best to scan the forum and see what Robbo says.

6) What is the velodrome address?

Not sure exactly, but its on the corner of Chatham and Darling Street i think. Best way to describe is to head South on Chatham Rd past Merewether High School and as you cross Darling St, its on your right.

Please feel free to add any more useful information that may help myself, and others who may be interested but dont want to post.

The track is great fun and very good for skills / fitness. It isnt daunting really, people go on about how if you stop pedalling youl be thrown over the bars. This hasnt happended to me, it just gives you a kick through the cranks which is fine. I think you will really enjoy it and find it very beneficial for your road racing / riding. Im still waiting on my new track bike, so iv been on the bench for a little while.
