MANNING VALLEY CYCLE CLUB (MVCC)
CENTRAL DIVISION EVENT – WOOTTON
AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS – U15/17/19. ELITE, WOMEN and MASTERS

EVENT: The MVCC is conducting the Central Division Age Championships event at the Wootton course. This is the same course as previous years and has proved very successful. The course is the old Pacific Highway (Wootton Way) between Bulahdelah and Wootton. This is a challenging course on a road in very good condition with many sections of overtaking lanes.

A detailed map of the course is attached. It has not been determined at this stage whether the full course will be utilised or whether all cyclists will turn at the top of O’Sullivans Gap.

Please seriously consider heading up to Wootton for this race people.

The good folks at Manning Valley have put a lot of work in preparing for this event, so it would be good to reward their work with big numbers.

For those heading to Brian's benefit night, the racing will be done and dusted by 3.30 at least, its only an hour back to Hexham from there, so there will be plenty of time to get back for the 8pm start.

looking forward to seeing you all there.

Should non-A-Grade riders head up for this?

Sorry for missing your question, I was in the process of packing the car so to head off before 11, if you had posted an hour earlier I would have seen it.

There were quite a lot of non A grade riders up there and quite a lot of them beat me.

Dr Rob,

sorry we missed the post, and sorry you missed the start. You have to admit it was a good push though.

Ryan, again my apologies for getting you there late, you rode with good form anyway.

95 riders is a good roll up as traditionally it has been no where near that number, so thank you to all who made the effort.

95 riders is an amazing number considering how many riders raced at Black Hill.  Afterall, the population of Newcastle/Maitland etc. is higher than Taree.

Then again, I bet there would be a scarcity of brown glass on the Wooton Way.

Personally, I am amazed, as I can ride Black Hill - at my pace- but I doubt that this weak old woman would be able to manage to complete a course which younger, stronger and faster riders class as  "challenging".

BTW
This year, I did not race at Black Hill as it was just before the Masters National Track Champs.  A race at the Gang may have benefited my speed (?) but not hills.

Robbo - it was a good push! Despite me being there on time, and within 20m of the start line, I still managed to not hear the call-up. I also was completely oblivious to how far I was to ride, and crossed what I thought was the finish line (after a two lap time trial). Alas, that was not the finish, and I only learned this after handing my number back in. A bit disappointed to DNF.
Perhaps next year a PA system might be in order.
Ryan - sorry I was not a better TT companion, after 20min at 180bpm I was merely a passenger.
In retrospect, there was never any chance I would have been able to keep up with the elites, so my start time was largely irrelevant.
Nice course though, pretty good surface and no traffic.
I did notice a few familiar faces (albeit always on the other side of the road) and they all rode well.

Next year, perhaps. After some more hilly training sessions.
