Hmmm.

Friday before last I suffered a puncture in the rough section heading up to the bridge.  So I had to pull out, another DNF.

Yesterday, 2 laps from the finish, I broke a spoke in my front wheel.  While only 1 of 32 spokes, it made the wheel feel unexpectedly flexy to the point where the lawyer in me did a risk assessment and decided I would not contest the sprint.  Shame, because I was actually feeling good and in a good position for the final sprint, and more importantly I was unusually motivated to win.

Kind of sick and tired of the course induced failures.  When I dropped the front wheel off at Hadleys on the way home I looked at the the front wheel, and it had a shipload of dings and scratches.  Take your tyres off the wheels you race with at KI and have a close look - it is a worry.

2 laps from the finish and in a good position for the final sprint? Either they start a LOONNG way out, or the final sprint was with 2 laps to go!
