The rest of us enjoyed the track side BBQ last Friday.

Speak for yourself.  Metro was looking quite buggered early and went home before the sausages were cooked.

Are you saying that Metro was the only one who was looking outdone  "early".

I tried to tag onto Karsten but couldn't hang on for more than a lap or two and then when he was finished a certain A/B grader was tailing the bike so this struggling D grader didn't dare attempt to sit on at what I presumed was non-D grade speed.  Things didn't get any better for me as the night wore on.
But this was no reason for me to depart early.  (I am amazed how stubborn I am to persist with track- if I had any sense I would give up).

The only positives for me before adjourning to the BBQ were that we didn't have any threat of moisture and that my second 200m fly was faster than my (lacklustre) first.
