Lantern,

Not wanting be disagreeable, but I would not agree.

A while ago I was racing in B grade, and Commando made one of his many comebacks and was, to the amusement of many in B grade and A grade, he was put in B grade.

B grade then did exactly what it shouldn't have done - no one tried to make it difficult for Commando by surging or cranking the pace up.  B grade pretty much made sure it would be a bunch sprint, and there was no one in those races who could beat Commando in a sprint.  Commando just wheelsucked, and when it came to a sprint he did what he does, and my memory was he was back to A grade in very little time.

Sad thing was Commando was quite upfront about the dumb tactics.  I clearly recall him yelling out, as he does, "you are playing in to my hands".  Dumb dumb dumb.

Having raced in that era of B grade, and now racing in C grade, I seriously doubt the current C grade will test Commando any more than B grade did.  We have numpties in C grade who do not know which way to swing in a crosswind (I now give up saying anything and more often than not just follow the numpty in front of me swinging off downwind), numpties who spend all their time out the front and wonder why they can not win a sprint, people who attack in the same places every lap or so in every race and usually in the wrong place,  people who try to ride away in a strong tailwind, and people who do not understand the importance of jamming people  in the downwind gutter in a crosswind.  Commando will exploit dumb racing, and there is plenty of it - including by me - in C grade.
Well, no merger so far....
