It was exciting to flip through the sports pages today, and see quite a sizeable photo of local cyclists accompanied by the announcement of the planning of a crit track at the velodrome. As a track cyclist who is keen to do crits, this was thrilling news. I knew there was some plan of this, but I thought it was still at the vision (dream) stage.

The crit track would indeed be great to get kids on their bikes off the roads. (The boys for their own protection) the girls, however, to gain confidence and skills in a controlled environment as they generally are not so gung-ho as the boys.
Personally, I hope the crit track is operational well before I have to retire from competition.
