hey I  found myself  frequently driving to the  track  ,which is a 50 minute drive, what I found was good, are the weather cams set up in and around newie.They were on a website www.stickybeek.com.au not sure if you can access surf web cams elsewherethey are set up at newcastle beach,the foreshore ,mereweather  beach and swansea .I don t know maybe they could help you decide weather to go or not
