There is currently three clubs in the Newcastle area, actually they all have their club houses within several KM of each other on Kooragang Island.

Hunter District Cycling Club          http://hunterdistrict.com

Hunter Valley Veterans               http://www.huntervetscycling.com.au

Kooragang Open Cycling Club       http://kooragangcycling.asn.au

There is a movement to try to amalgamate some or all of these clubs into one, this is in the interests of better racing and sharing of resources, so hopefully in the near future the choice of who to join will be a lot easier.

Here is a basic run down of the clubs, Hunter Districs caters more to the top level A grade riders, Kooragang can be better for new riders and juniors as they have better racing for the lower grades on usually a easier course, then there is Hunter Valley Veterans club similar could be said about them as Kooragang but it is only open to women and masters men.

If you join one club you can also race with the others, vets only allow non vets one day a month however.
