Training & Group Rides / Where to MTB ride in Newy area?
« on: October 29, 2010, 05:18:12 pm »
Hi ,

I mate of mine is an MTB'er and is looking for people to train with. He's pretty serious about it, having raced alot. He's new to Australia and needs to learn the local rides and meet some people.
I'm a roadie so I've got no idea where to begin in this area.

Give me a buzz on 0432118420 if you have a ride he can join.

Cheers,

Pete

Cycling Chat & Info / Saxo Bank mechanic needs a room!
« on: October 29, 2010, 05:09:45 pm »
Hi guys,

A mate of mine from Denmark is coming to town this weekend. He's looking for a room to rent while he's here. It will be for 3-6 months. If you know of anybody who needs a room mate please call me on 0432118420.
He's a pro mechanic, great personality and very reliable.
We'd have him at our place but we have all our rooms full.

Cheers,

Pete

Cycling Chat & Info / Re: Shoddy cervelo paint job in promo photo
« on: December 17, 2009, 11:07:39 pm »
Cervelo have been having problems with their paint jobs. They've been getting them done in asia somewhere and the quality has dropped. I bought a new S2 a few months back. When researching on the net I noticed there are alot of unhappy customers on the forums complaining of their paint jobs.
Mine wasn't ****, but it's not perfect which is what you expect when you fork out your money on a bike at in this price range. Spots including the bottom of the head tube and where the colours met were of in small areas.
I looked at several frames and just took the best looking one.

The guy in the shop said the paintjob looks blemished on them because they use as little paint as possible to keep the frame weights low. This leaves the crossover layers of carbon to be visible. Who know?

Cycling Chat & Info / Re: Broken crank
« on: December 17, 2009, 10:50:50 pm »
Hi Hilljockey,

I hope you didn't come off the bike when it went.

I had a similar thing happen to my left crank about 6 months ago. I wash the bike every week and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary the day before it went. I had just finished an interval session on the road when I felt something knocking on the back of the bike and the pedaling action felt a bit weird. On inspection it was a horizontal crack in the middle of the crank. So I nursed it to my bike shop. My mechanic here is an ex Team CSC mechanic and he said he's never seen it happen before.

It was an FSA gossamar crank on my Felt road bike. I didn't look into it in terms of warrenty/defect because I got it off Stoj 3 yrs ago and now live OS.  So I just put a unlegra crankset on it.
