Cycling Chat & Info / Re: which club?

Welcome to the "around 100 kilos club" Marto! The Island is very forgiving to those of us who've gone to the biscuit tin more than others, although the run up the ramp can feel like Sugarloaf when someone like Darren Towill decides to hit it up there.

Gai, when a relatively "unknown" gets a result at races I often hear people say "He/she doesn't race much, but they do track". It seems focusing on the track is one of the best places to concentrate on, and is most likely to bring the results. Alas my track bike is seeing about as much riding time as my wife's bike these days, it didn't even get to see any results before going into semi-reitrement.

On another note I must say I had a blast at the Aussie Day races. Luckily the weather held out and we got some good racing in. I haven't had that much fun in a bike race in a long time, very enjoyable.

Wow, Simply Red, this forum must be dying if even a merger comment thrown in can't prompt a response!

For my 2c worth, even though you've made the decision for HD, I am a Kooragang member and like it a lot. The people there are friendly and I can't see a reason to switch. 5 laps 'round the island every Saturday can get boring but if you're that concerned about it nobody's stopping you from heading to Black Hill or Seaham every now and again for some variety. Hell, why not head down to the Central Coast to get you arse whooped on the hills?! Or maybe that's just what happens to me...

The bugger at Tourle Street bridge was pretty interested in me last weekend. Either that or I'm paranoid about seeing him so was running away from shadows.

Either way I can only presume that my lack of being attacked was due to my moving too slowly to be perceived as a threat.

You're adopting my training plan it seems!

Have fun HJ, very jealous of you. I am guessing your moniker is some indication of your ability to ride a hill, though?

Metro has set the pace up the Alpe d'Huez so there's your carrot.

No idea who won what, the forum seems to be quite quiet these days.

Good luck to all the guys and gals competing this weekend at the G2T. It's always a good event and looking at the start lists there's a strong KOCC/HDCC contingent heading up, including a few A graders.

Seldo should make mince meat of D grade and my money is on Metro to punch out a killer sprint to take out E grade.

Have fun all, hopefully there will be some victory stories on here come Monday!

Indeed. Div 1 was a good race, although I expected it to be a bit harder. A really enjoyable course though, the fast corners are good fun.

Pat Webb made a great solo breakaway to win Div 2. Made all the more impressive by the fact he'd not long previously bridged a gap to the leaders.

Normally a pretty good turn-out so make sure you get along.

Robbo what are we turning up to in order to help? This sounds like it can only be a great thing for the cycling community.

Well done to the handicappers on Saturday, it was very close in the end.

What a great day for a race as well.

Thanks also to those who supplied the food.

Good to hear you're ok SS.

Seeing as this is the second such post in as many days it seems the f**kwits are out in force these last couple of days. Had an action-packed ride this morning with idiot pedestrians and drivers doing their best to put us onto the tarmac.

Stay safe everyone!
