there should be a warning for undesireable content in the heading for this topic

from what one of them told me, they averaged just under 42kph. Not bad seeing the bunch was predominantly being driven by 3 under 17 riders on restricted gear. Two of them also took 1st and equal second places in the sprint. Their restrictions had their cadence very high for the entire race. The juniors do that time and time again, no wonder the rest of us have no hope! Thats why they become top end A graders when they can open the rest of the gears up.

What a shame you losers didnt race at Pokolbin on Sunday. I could have lightened your wallet considerably.

Joint race at Blackhill this weekend, I am rostered on for Commissaire duties there too. Please enter you two, PLEASE!

Hillbilly, now you're just being silly.

Dot Boy, there was a word missing in your post 'VERY' should have been before generous.

Metro , nutter!

Giantcfr1, that race certainly had good pace. There are a couple of serial high grade riders from Sydney who like to enter the shorter cyclosportif races and constantly take money home. Hence my comments on the all in race.

Hillbilly,

it would appear my teaching capabilities have not been lost after all. You must be an A grade student.

As for tonight, the weather is sensational folks so come along.

Who will be in the points this week? Reece and Ryan are current ried for first place, A Wang is trying hard to get more points as are Doctors Brad and Rob. Dr Rob will have his flash Disc & Zipp front this week so he should be flying.

In the juniors, can Amelia Follett get back on terms with Nicola? their side by side finishes last week were awesome.

The div 2 boys and girls were a little split up last week. Will Steele Adams get his first win?

Should be great night's racing, dont miss it!

fair enough too Gai.

My post was aimed more at the B graders who enter Div 2.

For the rest, who question grades;

Div 1 is for A & B graders plus the faster of the C graders who want to test themselves against those in the grades above.

Div 2 is for the rest.

The club has limited time available for the Steel River crits, so it cant run 4, 5 or 6 grades. It is also aimed to give Newcastle's cyclists something a little different.

If a cyclist turns up to race a crit in Europe, they enter the one race - all in! I think we can be a bit soft in allowing too many grades, IMHO

thats the best read on this forum for ages Nuff Nuff. Hope you had a good time last week too.

This week we are looking at setting a Winter heat record for number of cyclists entered.

for those who are thinking of it, the racing is predominantly motopaced, so you will be able to stay with the riders in your division until the motorbike comes off with 5 laps to go. You can then test yourself and if you get dropped you have still had a quality ride. We will throw in a scratch race for each division as well just to help get you up to speed for RAW. Otherwise the motopaced races are there to assist riders get some quality miles in their legs that they otherwise wouldnt get. this will only help the road legs.

So if you havent been turning up, whats your excuse? you are ripping yourself off.

DW,

getting dropped from each grade possible has long been a Metro speciality. Dont let fear hold you back son!

9
Children,

it will stay as 2 divisions, unless as a HD club member you can turn up to a HD club meeting and convince the committee that it should accomodate for slower riders who do not want to test themselves and dont want to get faster.

Also, riders like Josh Taylor would not enter in div 2 as he and others at the top end want to try and beat the best in attendance (hint for others). Should he try to enter div 2, his entry would be declined. Dont get all caught up on technicalities, Div 2 has been on the increase of late, and the racing has been of a much higher quality as a result.

Look out Hillbilly, I will be there shortly to keep you honest. This will happen when I am not officiating or otherwise required by the family eslewhere.

Events / CD race at Wootton this Saturday
« on: May 04, 2011, 05:13:41 pm »
thats right, the fantastic workers from Manning Valley Cycling club are again hosting CD graded scratch races this Saturday.

They run a really good event, so it would be great to see as many riders as possible make the trip up there.

Just imagine how strong you will be in the following weeks after racing at Wootton!! Just do it folks!

Hope to see heaps of you there.

OK you mob, dust off those track bikes, WINTER HEAT is here.

Friday night track racing starts this Friday weather permitting.

racing will be for Juniors, Division 1 and 2. Div 1 will start out as A & B graders from the summer season and Div 2 will comprise C & D graders.

Program for this week will be predominantly longer controlled races that will fit in better with road race training.

Races will be motopaced and scratch races this week.

Be there or miss out. Big money on for best placed on points at the end of the WINTER HEAT!

Metro with bragging rights, now there's a novel thought...

I dont know the answer to more rider numbers at the crit. The Good Friday races had big numbers with some saying they were there because they could make it when other times they cant. I fit into this group so maybe we just need to make our weeks over 8 days where the 8th day is solely for racing.

I think a crit series is the go. Each club in Newcastle gets to run a race, but it has be differnt courses for each event. If it is the same venue it just has to be a different course. If it is a 5 race series then HD and KO run 2 each and HVV runs one. Thta way we could have decent money on for the over winner of each grade and it would be worth something. Thats my thoughts anyway.

Someone get a hold of Metro's mankini and burn it
